The Tech Mission to the United States, organised by the Sharing Economy UK and Tech City UK, in partnership with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) offers UK businesses the opportunity to explore the US market.

It will provide the opportunity for businesses to meet with key players in the Industry; both well-established companies and up and coming disruptors influencing the industry, as well as to foster collaboration between innovative British and American businesses.

Our definition of the sharing economy:

“The sharing economy involves using internet technologies to connect distributed groups of people and organisations to make better use of goods, skills, services, capital and spaces, sharing access and so reducing the need for ownership.”

In order to be eligible to apply for this mission, your company must be a ‘sharing economy’ company as defined above!

We have an expert panel reviewing applications. The panel will consist of Gerard Grech (CEO of Tech City UK), Debbie Wosskow (CEO of LoveHomeSwap and Chair of Sharing Economy UK), Andrew Saul (Senior Partner at Osborne Clarke), Mike Masserman (Director of International Government Relations at Lyft).

Agenda:

During the three day mission you will meet some of the biggest companies in the sharing economy. We are seeking to confirm companies such as Lyft, Airbnb, Instacart and Peers.org and will update this flyer as meetings firm up. There will also be a marketing and PR workshop as well as a session with VCs.

Accommodation and cost:

We are seeking a preferential rate at a downtown hotel. This will have a cost of approximately $250 a night which the successful applicants will pay themselves or make their own alternative arrangements. Please note successful applicants will also be required to pay for flights and a fee of £250 to UKTI in order to take part in the mission.
